Hilbert Youth Visit Franciscan Sisters’ Convent

by Sister Julie Ann on November 30, 2016

This fall Hilbert St. Mary’s students, teachers and parents came to visit us Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, WI. Sister Marlene Schwaller and Sister Mary Frances Maher visited their school last year.franciscan-sisters-visit-from-st-mary-hilbert-students

Pre-K through 6th graders paired up with Sister volunteers and visited the chapels, laundry, kitchen, and gym. Despite the rainy day, everyone had a good time. Bag lunches were enjoyed in the gym with lots of conversation. franciscan-sisters-gift-from-hilbert-students

Sister Marlene and Sister Mary Frances were given special thank you cards and Sister Kay Warning received one for the house. A three foot wooden cross was also given to us (made by the students and Mr. G.). On it is a quote from St. Theresa of Calcutta: “Go out into the world today and love the people you meet. Let your presence light new light in the hearts of people.” It was signed by all of the students and teachers. We were overwhelmed with the special gift and look forward to more visits with the students, teachers and parents.
