Franciscan Postulant Mary Bettag shares on a recent Initial Formation Weekend.
Initial Formation Weekend is an annual weekend where those in community who have not yet professed final vows get a weekend for formation in common. This typically includes talks, time for prayer, and time for recreation.
This year the Formation Weekend was a silent retreat on St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Rules for the Discernment of Spirits, which culminated with an evening of recreation in the gym. Aside from being spiritually fruitful, it also strengthened the spirit of community among those of us in formation – and was an opportunity to have fun together!
