Franciscan Sisters at Lima Peru airportCongratulations on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Maria Reina School. We thank the Marianists for their invitation to Peru to work in education of the Peruvians in 1965, and we appreciated the warm welcome given to us Franciscan Sisters during the 35 year of ministry. We promise our prayers for the families, the students, and the teachers for the next 50 years. We ask your prayers for us and for religious vocations to our community.Franciscan Sisters at Maria Reina School Banquet

The picture of the Holy Family is a replica of a painting done by Sister Victoria, one of our Franciscan Sisters, that arrived in Peru with the Sister nurses in 1965. When they left the country in 1969, the painting stayed in the Convent at Maria Reina until our final exit in 2001. May Jesus, Mary and Joseph be an example to you all of the spirit of love and care that should be a part of Catholic education.Franciscan Sister Victoria Holy Family

I love to see our sisters visiting Peru we have the best memories from them. I study at Maria Reyna school and have Sister Shirley Spilker as our first teacher since we were in elementary school. We have sister Cyrilla with us as well. I love to see all the pictures of Sister Mary Ann too.

It would be an understatement if we said this is a wonderful reunion with our Peruvian friends and teachers . What a warm and touching welcome we are given. We feel so fortunate to be here, and thank God for the chance to share God’s love and care with all who have come to make contact again personally. What a privilege to celebrate 50 years with Maria Reina!

Know that you Sisters and all your Peruvian friends are kept in prayer as you celebrate. We join with you in rejoicing in 50 years of catholic education. I only visited the school once but was most impressed with the easy flow of love and affection.

Congratulations to all of our Sisters who served in Lima, Peru! Each one was willing to serve in unfamiliar milieu. Each one walked on the “holy ground” of others’ lives, language, traditions, and world view.

  7. Sister Jan says:

I am so happy for all of you. It looks like a glorious reunion of friends – teachers and students.

  8. Sister Carla says:

I am so proud of our “missionaries” to Peru. It’s so wonderful some of you were able to see the fruits of your labors in the vibrancy of the continuation of the school. The celebration was a testament to all who have ever served there. Thank you, Sisters, for answering God’s invitation.
