On February  8, 2015 Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity opened convent doors in AZ, HI, NE, MS and WI. Here are some of the special moments of this event part of Pope Francis’ declared Year of Consecrated Life (YCL)to be celebrated throughout the world.

Franciscan Sisters Motherhouse Open House14Events include tours, receptions, family activities, and presentations on the history of religious communities. Displays were plentiful at our Motherhouse showing the history of particular rooms and Sisters who used those rooms since 1869. Two of our Sisters wore our earlier habits. Our Sisters in warmer countries had outdoor opportunities for conversation. Parish members also shared some goodies in the convent kitchens and some prayer time in chapels. Here are some Hawaii pictures.

YCL began on the First Sunday of Advent, November 30, 2014. It will close on the World Day of Consecrated Life, February 2, 2016.
