When Franciscan Sisters Host a Vintage Tea Time

by fscc on September 25, 2014

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Motherhouse makes for a  great vintage tea party. It was the  brilliant idea of Brittany Wilms, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Manitowoc, WI,  servant leader to youth, who offered the suggestion and invited area young women to join us.

Franciscan Sister Mary Ann at Franciscan teaOur front door began ringing at 6:25 p.m.. Photo shoots throughout the evening captured moments of dress-up clothing including hats and gloves, poses on our beautifully carved staircases, tea time, and prayer in St. Francis Chapel. A candlight procession to Our Lady of Lourdes grotto added radiance to the night sky.

Conversation was enhanced by live music from Novice Sister Maria Thérèse. Piano pieces included classical to contemporary.

We look forward to our next convent-style tea time.

  1. Many thanks to the originator of the idea and all who helped “make it happen”. The “sisterhood” of women, conversing and sharing is a blessed time. I hope our Motherhouse is able to host more such gatherings!

What a great idea! My grandmother had the most wonderful tea cups and this reminded me of her special tea parties. I hope the conversation was as delightful and as charming as the hats all of you were wearing. What a great way to share an evening together at our Motherhouse!
