The primary purpose of the General Chapter is:

  • to protect the intention of the foundresses concerning the nature, purpose, spirit and character of the Congregation ratified by the Holy See, as well as the wholesome traditions of the Congregation, all of which constitute its patrimony;
  • to promote suitable renewal in accord with this patrimony
  • to elect the Community Director and her council
  • to treat major business matters
  • to publish norms which all are bound to obey.

    What a privilege it is to be a part of a Community Chapter! The days are definitely full with plenty of reading and studying to do along with lots of formal discussions and informal conversations. It’s a time of honest sharing and careful listening as we grow in our understanding and love for each other and our community. And besides all that, it’s just fun praying and eating and being together!

  3. I agree with Sr. Pam. The experience of capitulars and staff and sisters eager to share is a blessing and great fun, too. The excitement, the laughing, the praying, the meeting and lively discussions make me so proud to be a part of our community. I am also humbled to see how intelligent and gentle are sisters are. A quick mind and kind speach are a real gift.

  4. Sr. Delores says:

    I have been praying each day for the Chapter. It helped me stay connected. I love to feel the energy of that surrounds big events of community. Thanks for serving on the Chapter.
