Project Rachel Celebrates Founding on Franciscan Feast

by Sister Julie Ann on September 18, 2012

Could a Franciscan be one of the patrons of post-abortion healing as well as students preparing for exams? Indeed, this may not be some flighty after thought especially when you consider this date is an important part of the history of Project Rachel.  Founder Victoria Thorn sent this message to the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity on this feast of St. Joseph of Cupertino.

Today, in 1984, the first post-abortion healing training in the U.S. was held in Milwaukee and on the 19th, the media took the news of Project Rachel around the world! God has touched so many over the years. Thanks be to God for His mercy and love!

At this time, Project Rachel is in more than 110 diocese in the United States with more ministries forming.

For students preparing new material in anticipation of an exam, this prayer is an all time favorite:

O Great St. Joseph of Cupertino who while on earth did obtain from God the grace to be asked at your examination only the questions you knew, obtain for me a like favor in the examinations for which I am now preparing. In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked. Through Christ our Lord. St. Joseph of Cupertino, Pray for us. Amen.

  1. This prayer of Mother Theresa echos the reverence for life of Project Rachael –the most important gift God gives to us:
LIFE IS AN OPPORTUNITY, BENEFIT FROM IT.
    LIFE IS BEAUTY, ADMIRE IT.
    LIFE IS BLISS, TASTE IT.
LIFE IS A DREAM, REALIZE IT.
LIFE IS A CHALLENGE, MEET IT.
LIFE IS A DUTY, COMPLETE IT.
LIFE IS A PROMISE, FULFILL IT.
    LIFE IS SORROW, OVERCOME IT.
LIE IS A SONG, SING IT.
LIFE IS A STRUGGLE, ACCEPT IT.
LIFE IS A TRAGEDY, CONFRONT IT.
LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE, DARE IT.
LIFE IS TOO PRECIOUS, DO NOT DESTROY IT.
LIFE IS LIFE, FIGHT FOR IT
