How Francisan Sisters Thank the Manitowoc Area Serra Club

by Sister Julie Ann on October 29, 2011

Franciscan Sisters of Christian can’t say enough about the Manitowoc Area Serra Club. Saturday, October 29, 2011, was our annual day to say thank you to them for their awesome support.

Being that Serra International (‘Serra’) is formally recognized by Pope Benedict as the global lay apostolate for vocations in the Catholic Church, it is a precious gift to have a Serra Club so close to us. Talk about a group of people who promise to pray for us and our future members.

How fitting that our time with these sincerely interested friends include Eucharist , (Father Richard Klingeisen is their dedicated chaplain),  some ‘witnessing’ by our young people in formation, comments by Novice Sister Monica’s Dad and a home-y meal with all of us. Lastly, we gifted our guests with specially-packaged Motherhouse bakery (oatmeal rolls: we may need to share this recipe eventually) and an opportunity to tour our Community heritage room.

  1. Yes, please share the recipe for the oatmeal rolls or oatmeal bread… it is the BEST!

  2. The prayerful support of these exceptional people is a wonderful gift to our Community and to the young women and men discerning religious life and priesthood! It was a joy-filled day!

  3. With the thoughtful sharing of Regina, Sister Monica, her Dad, Sister Regina Rose and Sister Leslie, we were able to give our long-time friends the Serrans a good update on our lives. It was a day to remember.

We are indeed blessed to have the Serrans praying not only for us but for vocations in general.  They are a wonderful witness to our faith.

  5. Sr. Leslie says:

It was a wonderful visit. Including bonding with the hunters who usually don't make it in November. I'm really glad we moved it to October.

  6. Regina. says:

    I concur! Thank you Serrans!
