Here are 2 New Franciscan Sisters’ Ministry Sites

by Sister Julie Ann on October 18, 2011

St. Francis of Assisi was “called to heal wounds, to unite what has fallen apart and to bring home those who have lost their way.” Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity new to serving at the Green Bay,WI, Diocesan Office and at Monte Alverno Retreat and Spirituality Center, Appleton, WI,  also live this vocation in the lives of people they touch. Read more about Sister Jacqueline Spaniola and Sister Marsaia Kaster.

Sister Jacqueline

Franciscan Sister Jacqueline Spaniola leads in the Diocese of Green Bay in the area of catechesis.

Holding Masters degrees in Religious Education and Christian Spirituality, Sister Jacqueline’s  main focus will be Diocese of Green Bay religion certification programming, meeting with catechetical leaders in addressing their issues and concerns, developing a comprehensive PreK-12 religion curriculum in parish religious education, and implementing the ACRE assessment this March 2012.

Previously, Sister Jacqueline had been the Director of Religious Education and most recently the Adult Faith Formation Director for St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, Two Rivers.  She has many years of experience as a teacher in Catholic schools and administrator in parish religious education.

Sister Jacqueline is now living with our Sisters at St. Agnes Convent, Green Bay, WI.

Sister Marsaia

Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Marsaia Kaster joins Monte Alverno Retreat and Spirituality Center staff.

Besides being hired to do preaching (talks) at the preached retreats at Monte Alverno Retreat and Spirituality Center, Sister Marsaia helps with the other retreat events, prayer and healing services, etc. Responsible for program planning for Womens’ evenings, the first event is Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Sister Marsaia continues to give harp lessons at Holy Family Conservatory, Manitowoc, WI, but is also responsible for liturgical music at Monte Alverno. On Sundays she is often joined by a string bass player and a trumpet player (both Capuchin brothers who are excellent) or a  former music lesson student  who plays flute (who is now at Lawrence University) .

The staff and preaching team at MA is quite amazing. I love how the whole group of us works together to “come to” and decide on themes for retreats and how jobs are divided up and all. I am impressed by the Capuchins. The spirit of Francis and a deep love for Clare are very evident.

-Sister Marsaia

Although ministry calls her to Appleton some days of the week, Sister Marsaia continues to live with our Sisters at Holy Family Conservatory Convent, Manitowoc, WI.
