Podcast: Why Franciscan Sisters Adopt-a-Beach

by Sister Julie Ann on September 24, 2011

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity invite you to view our podcast highlighting our recent Lake Michigan shoreline Adopt-a-Beach and why we are committed to this event.

Collaborating with the Alliance for the Great Lakes, Novices and Postulant as well as other Community members witness our Franciscan spirituality. Sister Mary Ann Spanjers was our event leader.

Praised be You, my Lord, with all Your creatures…Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Water, who is very useful and humble and precious and chaste.

Every person in the world is connected. No one is an island. Water is the perfect symbol of that unity because every living thing in this world needs water to survive. Water can stand as a reminder that every decision we make good or bad will have an impact on someone or something.

Also, since Jesus is the Incarnate Word, the Word who spoke everything into being, all of creation is a sacrament of our Trinitarian God.

Some of us can no longer run along the beach but are grateful to those who are willing to do so. You do a great service for others. God bless you.

What an inspiring presentation and action this was. Seeing so many helping and letting us know what kind of debris is left makes awareness very real.

God bless each of you who helped with the project.

Another new insight into praising God for all his gifts to us. We are so fortunate in having Lake Michigan at our door step and for our own “Silver Lake” oat our backdoor. Great ! Sister Francette
