Franciscan Assignment: Create a Recycled Crib

by Sister Julie Ann on December 22, 2013

Here’s an original Christmas crib idea. Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Michael Ann O’ Donnell gave her Holy Trinity Parish, School Hill, WI religious education class a green assignment this year: create your own nativity crèche of recycled materials. She furnished the first box and then the 5th graders were on their own. Students came back with a picture or the model itself.

The picture does not do justice to the stable roof. The daughter of a roofer, this artist did a fine job of shingling!

Here’s the whole class intent on moving ahead with yet another project: a family ornament.

  1. What a Franciscan concept; the creche began by St. Francis and using recycled materials to keep it “green”. God bless all who participated!

Isaac loved this project. What a great idea Sister Michael!
