Catholic Students–Who Are Your Closest Friends

by Sister Julie Ann on February 9, 2012

Although ‘words with friends’ may be a craze for some, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity highlight words Catholic young people desire to see in their closest friends. In this posting we will not only explain where our answers come from, but we are also pleased in this month of February to share a photo from one of our Sisters that celebrates the goodness of friendship.

Invited guests for last week’s Catholic Schools Week, our Vocation Team interacted with Catholic students at  Notre Dame High School, Portsmouth, OH. While quickly naming a few people that they consider good friends, teens were free to list qualities that they appreciate in their BFF. Here is some of their shared wisdom.

Qualities I appreciate about her/him:

  • always there and doesn’t judge me
  • I can trust all of them
  • works hard
  • being able to have fun
  • awesome, kind, funny
  • honest and make me laugh
  • like how I can be myself around them and tell them anything
  • easy to talk to
  • forgiving
  • good listener
  • independent, loving, appreciates people

Next, enjoy a photo from Franciscan Sister Mary Ann Spanjers assisting at the UW Stevens Point Newman Center Busy Persons Retreat this week. University friends took time out for some simple winter time skating at a local rink. Here they are pictured back in the warmth of the Newman Center.

Join us in celebrating the goodness of friendship every day.  Any qualities you would like to add? Any image you would like to share?

  1. S.Mary Ann says:

Sharing with the students of Notre Dame in Portsmouth; with those here at U.W. Stevens Point participating in this Busy Student Retreat; and those in so many other universities, high schools, young adult groups…is a blessing of faith! Our Church is very alive with hope and energy, commitment and depth! Jesus’ love is evident in these young adults!
